Football player pleads guilty to charge from fight with hockey player

An MSU football player pleaded guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor assault and battery charge stemming from an October fight involving a Spartan hockey player.
Mitchell White, 18, faces up to 93 days in jail for his part in an Oct. 19 fight that also involved MSU hockey defenseman A.J. Sturges. White was a walk-on wide receiver for MSU at the time of the assault.
White’s sentencing is scheduled for March 16 at 1:15 p.m., a court clerk said Wednesday.
Freshman running back Glenn Winston was also charged in connection with the assault. He faces three counts of aggravated assault and up to one year in jail if convicted.
The assault occurred during a fight at an off-campus house where several hockey players live. Sturges suffered a head injury during the fight and was temporarily hospitalized.

Prediction: They won’t serve any time. They will pay a fine,(and by they, I mean the rest of the student body through their tuition), and they’ll be on the field next fall.

Winston sucker punched the hockey player. That is a cowardly assault.
White is bad news and the sooner he is gone the better.
MSU has been libeled by the actions of these football thugs.

Just because this guy is a football player doesn’t mean that he won’t serve time. He won’t serve time because this is Ingham County, and Ingham county is notorious for its diversion programs and plea bargaining practices. He won’t serve time because he’s an MSU student who made a mistake (sarcasm there). Go sit in a court room in EL and you’ll see.

The hockey kid who was sucker punched by Winston got a skull fracture. He was never even involved in the altercation. His season was ended because he was just in the wrong place when the Thug Nation arrived.
There was a hockey guy involved earlier, but he just thugged his way out of the CCHA.
