Sexual assault reported outside Wells Hall

February 11, 2009

A 22-year-old female student reported being sexually assaulted outside of Wells Hall Wednesday morning, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

The assault reportedly occured around 10:45 a.m. as the student exited Wells Hall. The student told police a man grabbed her inappropriately and made obscene comments as she left the building.

As the student turned away, the suspect pushed her against a brick wall and stepped toward her. The student kicked and pushed the man before escaping to her car, which was parked in a nearby parking lot, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s with a medium build, about 6 feet tall and 185 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. The suspect has a goatee, spoke in a deep voice and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and faded blue jeans, police said.

The student was not injured and did not seek medical attention, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact MSU police as (517) 355-2222.
