The MSU women’s track and field team finished sixth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships this weekend, while the men finished eighth.

Freshman Beth Rohl claimed a title in the weight throw and freshman Becca Buchholtz won the high jump with a career-high 1.79 meter jump.

With her toss of 19.06 meters, Rohl beat her own career-high and set an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

For the men, sophomore Shane Wells broke a school record in the 60-meter dash and qualified with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.88 en route to a second place finish.

Sophomore Kyron Foster took second place in his first triple jump of the season, leaping 15.55 meters, also qualifying with an NCAA provisional mark. Standout junior Shane Knoll took third in the mile run, while 400-meter dash favorite senior Jeremy Orr went down with an injury in the race.

The finish for the women was the best since 2005, while it was the top finish for the men since the 2003 season.
