Auction to be held for Flats belongings

By Pat Evans (Last updated: 04/06/09 8:53pm)

A public auction will be held at 10 a.m. today at Flats Grille, 551 E. Grand River Ave., for assets within the restaurant. The restaurant closed Feb. 24 when it was seized by Michigan Department of Treasury due to a tax warrant issued by the department against the State Pizza Corp., the parent company of Flats. Officials have said Flats owed more than $8,800 in unpaid taxes.

Highest bidders will have a chance to claim nearly everything left inside the restaurant, from neon signs and posters to a 1992 Ford catering van with a freezer, deep fryers and a four-burner grill.

Same-day payment is required with cash or certified funds, with checks payable to “State of Michigan.”
