Police brief 04/21/09

By Kyle Feldscher (Last updated: 04/20/09 11:55pm)

Laptop stolen in library

A 35-year-old male student reported his laptop computer and backpack missing after he left the items behind with classmates Saturday evening in the basement of the Main Library, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

The classmates reported seeing a 5-foot-9 black male, who appeared to be in his 20s, wearing a gray sweatshirt near the student’s belongings, but assumed the student knew the man. However, the witnesses did not report seeing the man leave with the laptop and backpack, which contained the student’s passport, McGlothian-Taylor said.

The Hewlett-Packard laptop was valued at $1,200, the passport was estimated to be worth $60 and the backpack was valued at $20, McGlothian-Taylor said.

The incident is under investigation.

So what’s the point of leaving your stuff with someone if they’re not going to protect it? And why did they assume the student knew the 5foot9 black male, because he was walking by his stuff? Way to watch his belongings.

Message here: NEVER LEAVE YOUR STUFF BEHIND, even if you do want to leave it with other people.

What is going on at MSU these days, and who are these people who just let somebody walk off with this stuff. How could they not notice somebody taking a laptop and backpack and they were at the same table. I guess the coffee they were drinking was not strong enough to keep them aleart.

Poor guy, after all he trusted the wrong person to watch his stuff. 35 year old student, I wonder what he is studying, pretty cool, one is never to old to learn something new, that’s for sure. Especially when you have a friend that will study with you.

What a bummer, it is not only the cost of the laptop, it’s all the information that it contains…all because someone wasn’t watching and those that were, were not seeing.
I think we all should watch out for each other, it is too easy to bury your head in the books.

Why was everyone asleep, sounds like me yesterday. Well all I can say is that when you get your proper rest you are a lot more alert and you feel so much better. All that I can sum up here is that everyone was either alseep and appeared awake because really who allows someone elses belonging to just get up an walk away like that? I mean really who does that with a well rested mind. When you feel better you think better, when you think better, you eat better, when you eat better, you move better, when you move better, you laugh better…Life is good here there and everywhere!!!

What a bunch of slobs these, “friends” were.

Can you imagine if these guys were involved in a brawl?

“Here comes a monster swinging a steel chair… but we won’t jump in to help out because our friend probably knows the guy”

Unless your place of residence or car is BROKEN INTO, there is no forgiveness for losing these materials. Leaving them in a public place is hilarious.

The friends are worse, though.

“We saw a guy hovering over your expensive equipment, but assumed you knew him, even though we are your friends and have never seen him before”.

Everyone but me is dumb.

here's a thought

so in the next week we’re going to see a story or two like this every day with since everyone who’s never in the library will be there for finals. why don’t they install a security system into the library’s so that the police can actually have a chance at finding the people who are stealing stuff? there’s no other place in the city with such a high crime rate, yet no officials chose to find a way to stop this.

Great Thought

And why haven’t they figured this out on their own? Excellent way of putting things, you write so well.
Darko it is wise to look back, something to think about.

here’s a thought couldn’t be you. The grammar isn’t perfect, no Capitals at the beginning of sentences. You have a watchful eye for every detail, sorry how could I have thought that it was you Jim? But the point is a good one and I know that it came from another article in the paper, see how much I have learned to read. You will always be special to me, even as I say goodbye-forever.xoxo
