Cox announces bid for governor race

Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox announced Wednesday he will run for governor, advancing the Republican race in the state.
Cox, a Livonia resident, was elected attorney general in 2002 and was re-elected in 2006.
Republicans already running are U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land and state Sen. Tom George, R-Kalamazoo, according to The Associated Press.
A formal campaign will begin in the fall, according to Cox’s campaign Web site, “mikecox2010.com“http://www.mikecox2010.com.
Voters can follow the campaign on Facebook and Twitter, where Cox first announced his plans to run.
