Some students are learning to expect the unexpected as the automotive industry, a foundation of Michigan’s economy, crumbles around them. The impact of the bankruptcies at Chrysler LLC and General Motors Corp., has not passed by MSU and instead is hitting hard on the lives of students.

That is really odd that Aquel now has more financial aid. Many students including myself are suffering financially because our parents work at GM and their salaries are being decreased substantially but financial aid is not compensating. So not only are our parents losing money but we are not receiving increased aid which equals less of a chance that many people whose families are involved in GM will be able to continue their education at MSU. Financial Aid needs to wake up and understand that this is important and can mean a significant decrease in students who are not offered any help, including loans!!! Obviously parents are not able to take out a parent plus loan when they are struggling to pay their own bills and are forced to take out loans to pay for those bills. I wish the rest of the student population who are involved with GM luck financing their education because obviously MSU and financial aid in general is not going to help us.
