MSU College of Music hosts jazz camp

By Kayla Habermehl Originally Published: 06/15/09 9:17pm No comments

MSU is hosting a jazz camp that began on Sunday and will conclude Friday, according to a statement from MSU.

The 65 participating students are from Lansing and Detroit and are middle- and high-school aged.

The camp expanded from a one-day camp last year to an overnight camp this year.

The participants will focus on jazz arrangements and composition styles.

The camp is being held by the College of Music and the Community Music School. Some participants received grants from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Other funding came from the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives, University Outreach and Engagement, as well as from a donation from alumni Jack and Dottie Withrow.
