What do you think of the MSU Health Services moving from Olin Health Center to Service Road?
By Elizabeth Brumfield (Last updated: 09/13/09 11:14pm)

“I think moving Olin is a bad idea, because where they want to move it to will be an inconvenience to students and the location it’s in right now is a good location.”
Eric Szandzik
finance junior

“I feel like less people will go and use the resources that are available to them. Service Road is really far away.”
Elisabeth Wriston
psychology junior

“I think it would be a bad idea, especially for incoming freshmen, who don’t have the choice to necessarily drive out to where they can get to a hospital. Service Road is really far out on campus, so moving Olin farther away will definitely be harder for people who don’t have access to a car.”
Amy Lundman
art history and studio art senior

“I think living at (Hubbard Hall), it would be a great thing to move down (to Service Road). If I ever get sick or anything it would be nice not to walk or hitch a bus all the way over (to Grand River Avenue).”
Andrew Bozymowzki
communication and media arts
and technology freshman

09/15/09 10:40pmThe x-ray clinic at Olin is pathetic and the one at the CC is state of the art. The CC has lots of board certified docs, Olin does not. Olin has no board certified gynecologist of eye specialist. The CC has people who actually know how to use a slit lamp for eye injuries.

09/16/09 11:14pmThe quality of care offered at the clin cntr is significantly better and certainly worth the longer walk. The x-ray clinic at Olin is non-existent during the summer and during the semesters there are long waits for x-rays due to only one tech on duty. I think it is a move that would be well received by students.

09/18/09 5:17pmHalf of the Olin staff are phys asst and nurse practitioners. One olin physician never did an internship and has no certification. Many of the physicians are retired from somewhere else and get a job at Olin. Olin also contracts out for help from the clin center for physicians. Why not just go to the CC and see a highly qualified physician with a board certification in family medicine or internal medicine. And…if you need an x-ray you can get it right away without going down into that dungeon in the basement and waiting for an hour. Then, the x-ray gets sent over to the CC to be read by one of their radiologists because the Olin staff can’t read the x-rays (pathetic).

09/22/09 5:14pmI would like to take the opportunity to clarify some of the misinformation that has been shared in the above comments. Of the 13 medical providers in our Primary Care and Gynecology Clinics, four are mid-level providers and nine are physicians. Of our 9 physicians, eight are board-certified in either family practice or internal medicine. Our providers are trained and certified to provide a broad range of medical services.
