Bassoon duo to perform at local venue

By Brittany Shammas (Last updated: 10/13/09 10:27pm)

The Tuple Bassoon Duo will perform a concert at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22 at (SCENE) Metrospace, 110 Charles St.

The concert is part of the band’s fall tour, which also makes stops at the University of Michigan and Northwestern University. Admission will be $5.

Tuple is a chamber ensemble comprised of Rachael Elliott and Lynn Hileman, who perform avant-garde and experimental music for two bassoons by composers including Louis Andriessen, Chiel Meijering, Sofia Gubaidulina, Michael Daugherty and Marc Mellits.

The music ranges from edgy to humorous to transcendent and requires a great deal of technique, stamina and breath control.
