There’s no way that MSU is a B for sustainability. From recycling to education, MSU covers all the aspects of creating a new culture for the preservation of energy and the use of waste.

Just a thought…

	Considered by US News that Michigan State is a “A school for B Students” it only makes sense we get a B in sustainability.

So with the threat of the U.S. Government taking over the student loan industry, MSU earning a B isn’t too good. With crazy environmentalists wanting their 2 cents thrown in w/ every piece of legislature, do we have to prepare for being threatened by the government? Ex: If MSU’s environmental standards aren’t ‘up to par’ in the eyes of Washington, will they end up cutting some student loan money headed to MSU students? Yikes!

@student

	I’ve been in contact with the Office of Campus Sustainability in the last year about this topic, and they even admit that they deserve a B grade. A lot of this “go green” stuff that we see everywhere is more talk than action. Compared to other campuses we’re above average, but nothing more. We just market the hell out whatever we do to make it seem like we’re amazing at it.

	Also, we need to be more worried about economic sustainability at MSU right now than campus sustainability. I hope the B grade doesn’t encourage Pres. Simon to start donating millions to sustainability campaigns when the students are suffering.

	And on a completely random note, CAN WE PLEASE ABANDON THE ART MUSEUM PROJECT?!

I find it interesting when I see MSU get an F in a category because the investment managers are allowed to vote on issues associated with the environment. What if someone else was voting on these issues, but the managers were still investing in the same investments? Is it the voting that caused the low grade or where the University is investing?

	While I believe that sustainability and other social factors should be a consideration in investing, they should not be the only consideration. The investment managers have a duty to be stewards for the funds they are investing and to get the best return for the University, within reasonable constraints.
