Police Brief 10/13/09

By Brittany Shammas (Last updated: 10/12/09 11:55pm)

Bicycle stolen outside Brody Hall

An 18-year-old male student reported his $1,000 Gary Fisher bicycle stolen between 1:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

The student told police he left the 2005 21-speed bicycle, which had yellow paint on its frame, locked to a bike rack in front of Brody Hall. He returned to find the bike and $15 lock missing.

There are no suspects and the incident is under investigation.

You brought a 1,000 dollar bicycle to campus? Seriously? You were just asking for it to get stolen, it probably stuck out like a sore thumb.

I’m glad he’s also upset about the $15 lock.

Hope your bike was registered…maybe it wasn’t “stolen” afterall.

I second Link’s comment. What the heck is anyone doing bringing a $1,000 bike to campus?! Get a $90 mountain bike from Meijer, and leave the fancy bike at home, you morons. And if you’re so spoiled that you have to bring the expensive one, get a lot better lock than a $15 model.

hahahahahaha

If i had a $1000 bike I wouldn’t even want it to be rained on. lesson learned.

Also, letting all of MSU know your bike is worth $1000 probably isn’t going to help get it back.

A 1,000 dollar bike? Christ, I used one that I picked up at the surplus store for 20! Sure, it was nothing to look at but that just meant I never needed a lock – people wouldn’t even take it when I offered to pay them to!
