MSU could get Google Maps Street View

November 10, 2009

MSU is one of five universities in the country entered into a competition to be the newest addition to Google’s Street View application.

Street View uses 360 degree street-level photographs to map pathways and roads in cities.

MSU was selected from a pool of more than 25,000 locations in the country and now students can vote to bring Street View to MSU’s campus. Arizona State University, Princeton University, Stanford University and Rochester Institute of Technology also are being considered.

Students can vote for the university at Google’s online page, which can be found by searching U.S. Street View Special Collections Poll in the search engine. The results will be announced Nov. 30.
