Detroit Southeastern guard Brandan Kearney became Tom Izzo’s first verbal commitment for the 2011 recruiting class, signaling his intentions to attend MSU on Tuesday.
Kearney, tabbed a four-star (out of five) recruit by both recruiting services, Rivals.com and Scout.com, is entering his junior season at Southeastern. He averaged 12.5 points, six rebounds and six assists per game his sophomore season and is No. 90 nationally in his class, according to Rivals.com.
Kearney chose MSU over Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State and Florida International, according to Rivals.com.
MSU’s class of 2010, which can first sign on National Signing Day on Nov. 11, was ranked No. 9 in the nation by ESPNU in September.

That’s not what it said. He may have been recruited by 200 schools, but narrowed it down to MSU, Michigan, etc. and chose MSU. At least, that’s my read on it.
