To promote the hiring of veterans, Gov. Jennifer Granholm declared November “Hire a Veteran Month” in Michigan.

Michigan is the home of more than 750,000 veterans, and more than 500 Michigan military personnel leave active service each month. The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth works with Michigan Works! and other state service providers to help veterans find work.

“Today’s veterans are entitled to the same economic and employment opportunities as every Michigan citizen, but unfortunately some veterans return from active duty only to find they have lost their job,” Granholm said in a statement.

“Through their military experience and training, these veterans are ready to offer Michigan employers a wide range of business, technical and leadership skills.”
