By Brittany Shammas (Last updated: 11/12/09 11:38pm)

Higuchi released from jail on $10K bond

An MSU instructor who is being tried on three counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct was released from jail at about 10 a.m. Thursday.

Takashi Higuchi, an instructor and resident in the College of Veterinary Medicine, was released on a $10,000 bond.

The charges against Higuchi stem from an incident in which he reportedly had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl he said he told police he believed was 18 years old.

according to previous articles, the girl’s internet profile said she was 30. Why is he now claiming he thought she was 18?

It does not matter

He will be convicted regardless of how old she said she was. If you have sex with a minor is does not matter if the minor said they are 18. The minor could show you a fake ID etc. It does not matter. You have sex with minor=you get convicted.

What I don’t understand is that I heard she had an account on a social site online that he found her through, and she stated she was 18 if not older.

If that’s the case, it shouldn’t be the guy’s fault. I know it will be, but this is one example of how the US legal system is ****ed up. Girls skate away for free when it takes two to tango, and in any situation where a girl lies about her age, it’s still the guy’s fault.

Agreed. I’m almost scared to meet girls in bars because their fake IDs could be my lawsuit. Sigh..
