Bomb charge still facing 4 MSU students

Three of the four MSU students charged with detonating an explosive in an East Lansing yard have waived their preliminary exams, which were scheduled for today.

Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III said he has been in “serious discussions” with attorneys for Olivia M. Hudson, 18, of Okemos; Darby D. Dudley, 18, of Mason; Sasha N. Savage, 18, of Okemos; and “we are very, very close” to reaching an agreement with them. The fourth suspect, Nikolai E. Wasielewski, 18, of Rossford, Ohio, is still scheduled for a preliminary exam today in East Lansing’s 54-B District Court.

The students are charged with placing explosives and causing property damage and possession of bombs with unlawful intent. They face up to 20 years in prison and/or a $15,000 fine for each charge.

Sounds like they’re attempting to stifle the circus before it gets started. I wonder what kind of deals could be worked out for something like this.
