The No. 10 MSU women’s basketball team opens its season at 6:30 p.m. tonight against Wayne State at Breslin Center.

It will be the first of two exhibition tilts for the Spartans this season, as they host Grand Valley State at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Spartans are coming off a 22-11 season and a trip to the Sweet 16 and were picked to finish second in the Big Ten. The team returns 12-of-13 letterwinners from a season ago, losing only guard Mia Johnson.

MSU opens the season ranked No. 10 in both The Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls.

The Warriors are coming off a 7-20 season and return their leading scorer Brooke Bowers, who averaged 11.9 points per game last season.

MSU begins regular season play Nov. 13 at Dayton.
