Senior receiver Blair White was named one of 12 finalists for the 2009 Wuerffel Trophy, which is awarded to the college football player who best exemplifies community service and outstanding athletic and academic achievement.

Joining White from other Michigan universities include Michigan punter Zoltan Mesko, Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour and Western Michigan quarterback Tim Hiller.

Texas was the only other state with multiple finalists with Texas receiver Jordan Shipley and Rice safety Andrew Sendejo.

Northwestern receiver Andrew Brewer joins White and Mesko as finalists from the Big Ten.

The winner will be announced Dec. 8.
