01/13/10 6:11pmThe VERY FIRST sentence of the article refutes the title of the article?
WTF, editors?

01/13/10 6:24pmlol, sometime I really love the quality of the State News.
makes sense
01/13/10 6:32pminnocent until proven guilty. i would rather have the courts sort this out, that you. nothing personal. what exactly was the role of everyone there? who threw a punch, shoved, or threatened someone? lots of questions to answer. please sign up for a basic american government class, you will come to learn that people in the united states are innocent until proven guilty.
Winston should have never been allowed back on the team though. A. he was proven guilty and B. he put someone in the hospital. That was no minor failure of judgment, that was nearly killing someone.
makes sense part II
01/13/10 7:08pmI agree with you “makes sense” 100 percent!

01/13/10 8:20pmAll for 2nd chances, but must we suffer through another season of Rucker getting torched?

01/13/10 9:28pmI thought we actually played better in the bowl game than we played in the season anyway. How bout letting them all go to community colleges and moving on with a respectable program?

01/14/10 8:28amI’m embarrassed to be an alumni. NO WAY anyone should have be re-instated, especially before the court proceedings are over. The program is out of control and apparently will stay that way.

01/14/10 8:55amLast we had season tickets. This year I will not purchase season tickets unless the coach gives good reasons on the decision to reinstate players.
fight
01/14/10 9:21ami’m on the fence. on one hand, i feel that these KIDS deserve a second chance. after all, it was only fight..and not a very serious one at that.
on the other hand, these kids are suppose to represent msu. fighting is not the representation we want.
i’m sure md has thought long and hard about this, and probably has much more information then we do. so i trust his judgment.
so lets put it behind us. whats done is done. lets get better in the off season, and come out next year to actually play some defense.

01/14/10 12:25pmFirst of all, everyone complaining about the “terrible quality” of this article needs to stop being so critical. There are full length stories in the newspaper and sometimes there are just updates, like this. I hate when people whine about not being informed with ongoing stories but when papers try to keep the public informed (like this) people complain. Grow up. Here are the facts.

This is an easy one
01/16/10 11:29pmI used to side with the “kick em off for good” crowd, then I realized: I myself have many times wished physical beatings upon frat members. These football players were just living out every self-respecting undergrad’s dreams: Bashing in annoying fratboy skull. I applaud these gentleman.

01/18/10 1:37amI think it is a shame that any of these men were accepted back on the team or any college team for that matter. They should all be thrown out of the school too. I do hope that charges are being brought against all of them.

01/18/10 1:44amI also agree with Observor, that he thought the tean actually played better in the bowl game than they played in the season anyway. How bout letting all of those involved in the fight go to community colleges and move on with a RESPECTIBLE program? I’ve heard of people being kicked out of MSU for WAY LESS than what this mob of football players did!!!! Let’s see them get the same treatment. Being football players DOES NOT MAKE THEM SPECIAL or any better than anyone else on campus!!!!

01/18/10 10:48pmAs a non-athlete, regular old science major at MSU— if I would have behaved as these “men” did, I would have been kicked out of MSU. Football players at our school are too privileged – they apparently can get away with whatever they want. Football players, take a lesson from the Men’s basketball team. They not only avoid situations that could cause trouble, but they also have so much respect for the team, our school and Coach Izzo, that they would NEVER be caught in a situation like the incident at Rather.
lesson learned?
01/25/10 1:14pmWinston was given a second chance and reinstated after last year and clearly that worked out for him, he really learned his lesson, oh wait.
If these were non athletes there would be no second chance. If these were ANY other athletes they would be kicked out, even basketball, you know Izzo wouldn’t put up with this kind of behavior.
I just don’t understand how Dantonio isn’t learning from last year. Winston puts Sturgis in the hospital, pretty much ending his hockey career (he still isn’t able to play) and what does he do this year? Beats down a bunch of kids in a fraternity. Are we just waiting to see what goes down next year?
