Enos introduced as CMU head coach

January 12, 2010

Former MSU running backs coach Dan Enos was named the head football coach at Central Michigan on Tuesday.

Enos, who served as the running backs coach under MSU head coach Mark Dantonio for the past three seasons, was introduced in a press conference.

“It is a privilege and an honor to be the head football coach here,” Enos said. “My family and I are very excited about becoming part of the Central Michigan University family and the Mount Pleasant community. I’m looking forward to carrying on the proud tradition of CMU football into the future.”

Prior to serving as MSU’s running backs coach, Enos was MSU’s quarterbacks coach in 2006.

He has mentored such standouts as running backs Jehuu Caulcrick and Javon Ringer, as well as quarterback Drew Stanton.

Enos also was a quarterback at MSU from 1987-90. A two-year starter during the 1989 and 1990 seasons, he won back-to-back bowl games (1989 Aloha Bowl and 1990 John Hancock Bowl) for the Spartans. Enos ranks third in MSU history in passing completion percentage (62.1 percent).

Despite finishing in the AP Top 25, Central Michigan was in search of a head coach after former head coach Butch Jones left for Cincinnati in December.
