Former MSU running back Ashton Leggett pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of assault and battery today at East Lansing’s 54-B District Court.
Leggett pleaded guilty to his involvement in a Nov. 22 assault in Rather Hall. The initial charge of conspiracy to commit assault and battery was dropped, a court clerk said. He is scheduled to appear in court again Feb. 19.
MSU head coach Mark Dantonio said yesterday Leggett is transferring Illinois State University.
Leggett is one of nine current or former players to be charged in connection with the assault.
Pretrial conferences for the remaining eight players also were scheduled for Thursday but were adjourned until a later date in February, a court clerk said.

Two misdemeanors and an Illinois State degree should make Ashton highly sought after in the current job market.
