Road rage leads to assault on campus

By Kate Jacobson (Last updated: 01/13/10 7:27pm)

A 23-year-old man was assaulted and knocked unconscious Tuesday night outside West Shaw Hall in a case of road rage, MSU police said.

Police said the man stopped his vehicle at about 11 p.m. Tuesday outside the dormitory to make a pizza delivery when another car pulled up behind him. The driver and a passenger in the car pulled the man out of his car and began to punch and kick him, police said.

The victim told police he had attempted to pass the suspects’ vehicle shortly before stopping his car. The driver of the suspects’ vehicle seemed visibly angry and honked her horn as he passed.

The victim had cuts on his face and was unconscious when police arrived. He was transported to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital.

Police said the driver’s vehicle possibly is a dark blue, four-door Chevy Cavalier. They believe it is a newer model car.

The driver of the car is described as a black female between the age of 18 and 20 years old, wearing a black coat. Her hair was in a pony tail, police said.

The front-seat passenger is described as a black male, between the age of 18 and 20 years old, wearing a black shirt. The back-seat passenger is described as a black female between the ages of 18 and 20 years old, wearing a black coat with a hood, blue jeans and a winter stocking hat.

Anybody with information about the incident is asked to contact MSU police at (517) 355-2222 or CrimeStoppers at (517) 483-7867.

darko-
i would agree with you except that they are trying to find the people who beat up the pizza guy by getting the word out with descriptions of their appearance.

Why is it suddenly ok to use race in a descriptive context in this article. Last semester an SUV full of people beat up two students in east lansing in the middle of the night but race was never used to describe them.
For the record I feel it should always be mentioned if it is know.

Seriously, half of you people should go there. Racism is stupid. Did you idiots know racism is a social construct? There are no scientifically defined races, and the definition of race changes from culture to culture. Have fun chilling in the eugenics era of the early 20th century.

Mr and Ms. I Wonder. Please think about the things that you are saying in the negative effects that your views will have on your community. To refer to the people involved in this situation as “blackies” is very racist of you. Racism usually stems from your up bringing and direct community (social constructivism) but you are of an age now that you need to take responsibility for your views, and actions. To be racist is to be ignorant. Please educate yourself on the cultures and races around you instead of trying to create racial tension.

A month ago I was driving aorund 2am during a heavy snowstorm going probably 5mph under the speed limit, and probably should have been going slower. A man in the car behind me got so angry he passed me in a no pass zone on a residential street, pulled over, waited for me to pass him in order to get out of their car, yell obscenities and threaten me, then got back in his car and passed me at an extremely high speed again.

What do you expect? Gangsta punks bringing ghetto to formerly middle-class college campuses. Been happening for years. No one stops it for fear of being called racists.

You PC hipsters and African studies majors can continue running on your euphamism treadmills if you wish. The rest of us will embrace reality and call a spade a spade.

Sorry, not a racist. I harbor no ill will towards anyone because of the color of their skin. I do, however, harbor ill feelings towards people who I have been given time to formulate an opinion about. It takes less than 10 seconds of rude/inappropriate behavior for me to formulate an opinion about a particular college student. What I continue to notice is that most of these rude/inappropriate students are black.

That’s why I carry a gun at all times, except when going to class. Not just for my own safety, but for the safety of others, should one of these rageaholics try to harm an innocent and I happen to be there when it happens. It really concerns me that situations like this happen at all, I fail to understand how anyone can get so angry over something so innocuous and unintentional.
