What do you think of the new MSU Spartans helmet logo?
“It seems nice. It seems more defined with more curve. I like it better than the old one, it’s more ‘300’-ish, like the movie. It’s a better logo.”
Apram Ghuman
genetics and philosophy junior
“I like the original one. It’s tradition mostly that makes me want to have the originals intact. The new one looks cool, but I’d like to see the original one kept.”
Brent Ewald
mechanical engineering junior
“I like them both the same. I don’t think this one is better by any means, but I don’t think it’s worse. I wouldn’t look at this and be like ‘Oh, why did they do that?’”
Eric Huffman
journalism junior
“I actually don’t like it as much as the other one because it doesn’t have as much detail to it and it looks more aggressive I guess, but I like the way the other one is.”
Megan Carnevale
music education sophomore
“I don’t think the second one compares to the original one. I’d have to go with the original, but (the new one) is nice.”
Chelsea Ross
kinesiology freshman

Who approved this ugy thing, and the money it wilL take to implement? if my contributions to MSU are going to fund such b.s., then they just got my last dime. Oh, by the way, you can take me off the bookstore mailing list too, since I won’t be buying anything with the new logo.

What? You have raised the tuition, laid people off, frozen salary increases and you have the audacity to spend hundreds of thousands of MSU dollars “rebranding” products with a different Spartan helmet? How did this asinine waste of money even make it onto a meeting agenda? This is a university, not a soft drink company. Take a lesson from other respected places of higher education who don’t bow to peer pressure and sales pitches from ad firms trying to make a buck. Ever wonder why Harvard’s logo has stayed Harvard’s logo for as long as it has? It’s because they offer consistent quality education and their image and reputation is known world wide. A new logo would tell prospective students that they won’t be getting the same education that was previously offered at Harvard. The only reason a business ever needs to slap on a new face is when their reputation is tanking and they’re ashamed of the old one. What gives? And where, pray tell, is the money coming from to reprint everything from business cards and stationery to soda cups for the stadium? This blatant financial irresponsibility is just rearranging the proverbial deck chairs while the ship sinks.

Who cares if it is more ’300-ish’? This is NOT Michigan State 300 University…keep the old logo!

Look at the eyes, they’re just evil. Not tough, EVIL! It’s grotesque, at a minimum the eyes have to be changed.

They “love/hate” the old/new logo … this “old” logo replaced the original logo. Let’s go back to that one!
