Family drama to premiere at MSU

Steppenwolf’s “August: Osage County” will premiere Tuesday at Wharton Center.

There are performances at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall.

The play tells the story of the Westons, a large family that gathers at their rural Oklahoma homestead when the alcoholic patriarch disappears.

The cast includes Academy Award-winner Estelle Parsons. “August: Osage County” is written by Tracy Letts and directed by Anna D. Shapiro. The play won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play.

Tickets are $38.50.
