Editor’s note: This story was corrected to reflect that Jamiihr Williams no longer is a member of the MSU football team.

One MSU football player and two former football players have pleaded guilty in connection with the November 2009 Rather Hall assault.

Sophomore wide receiver Fred Smith, former redshirt freshman defensive end Jamiihr Williams and former junior safety Roderick Jenrette pleaded guilty Thursday in East Lansing’s 54-B District Court.

Jenrette pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault and one count of assault and battery. Single counts of conspiracy to commit assault and battery and assault and battery were dropped.

Smith pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit assault and battery. One count of assault and battery was dropped.

Williams pleaded guilty to one count of assault and battery. One count of conspiracy to commit assault and battery was dropped.

Charges stem from a Nov. 22, 2009 incident in Rather Hall, where 15 football players allegedly entered the dorm and assaulted members of the Iota Phi Theta fraternity, witnesses said.

Other MSU players with unresolved cases include redshirt freshman wide receiver Myles White, junior defensive tackle Oren Wilson, former sophomore running back Glenn Winston, junior offensive lineman J’Michael Deane and junior cornerback Chris L. Rucker.

Former MSU running back Ashton Leggett pleaded guilty Jan. 14 to two counts of assault and battery and faces a maximum of 93 days in jail.

Sophomore wide receiver B.J. Cunningham and junior wide receiver Mark Dell pleaded guilty Jan. 27 to one count of assault and battery.

Ok… that makes it six total players that I’m still waiting for MD to kick off the team.

Any time now Mark.

Really Anon? You should write to Dantonio and let him know how unhappy you are with how he is handling this situation. Or you could realize a witch hunt when it is present.

In your little utopian world, what is reality like?

Witch hunt? Did you even read the article?

Let me summarize: Three people have PLEAD GUILTY TO ASSAULT IN COURT. MAKING THE TOTAL SIX WHO HAVE PLEAD GUILTY, IE: THEY HAVE ADMITTED GUILT. It’s no longer, did they really do it?? Not to mention the other nine who still have pending court dates.

In my little Utopian world, criminals get kicked off the team (like every other major NCAA team) and you actually have reading comprehension.

quit arguing on a comment section of an article…neither of you were there…state news should block the comment section…commence with the “jack if you are so upset…blah blah blah…you have bad grammar…blah blah blah…”

Assault. Oh noes! Not assault! Anything but assault! Assault happens every day. Battery is when you physically do something, assault is when you verbally do something.

Yes, this is a witch hunt. It is stupid. Should MSU give up the 2000 national championship for having criminals on the team? BTW criminals are not kicked off every other team in the NCAA. Watch ‘The U’ on ESPN.

I hope you never make a mistake in your life, and if you do, I hope that it isn’t ruined because people overreact to whatever it is you do.

Sorry that I chose to leave off the battery part. Actually just because “The U” kept criminals on their team, doesn’t make it a normal or OK thing to do. I will state again, every other major team kicks those thugs off.

And as for my life (or frankly the entire real world), I currently work in a job where that required a criminal background check, imagine that. I’m also going back to school and that requires a criminal background check. I’m sorry your aspirations are to become a ditch digger, mine are not. Have fun working at your mcjob since I am now assuming you are a criminal.

Proves again MSU is worthless

How many MSU students/ex-students/alumni have gone to jail/prison this year?

Plaxico is one alumni,
Melissa Rumrill for the DUI death and those football players and those students who made “bombs” with fireworks

Just proves again how pathetic MSU and the MSU community is. Bunch of uneducated, under-achieving criminals… But the Big Ten thanks you for the laughter.

Why do you compalin so much?

@Proves again MSU is worthless, cheer up, or at least try to. Is it possible? I think the answer is yes, if you want it to be.
