“With the economy being so hard, I don’t think that the education budget is something we can compromise. So I believe that the raised money can help the education in the state of Michigan and overall it will be helpful.”

Brian Shin, finance freshman

“I think extending the sales tax will be beneficial for public schools. But it would hurt the businesses, small businesses in Michigan and residents in Michigan.”

Rebecca Rink, communication junior

“I know it would help the public schools, should the extra money raised go to them, but I just don’t think that already struggling businesses of Michigan will appreciate the extra tax. With our terrible economy, it’s not really the right time for an expansion of sales tax.”

Allison Manchel, media arts and technology junior

“I’ve seen budgets cut in schools, and it’s affecting one of my former schools especially. So if it’s gonna put more money towards schooling, and if it’s going to help out the youth of our state, then I believe it’ll be a good idea.”

Brian Fenech, finance freshman

“It might be hard to do in certain situations, depending on what the tax is going towards, but in the long run, I think that it will only be beneficial.” *
