The College of Veterinary Medicine will honor more than 50 pets at the annual “Celebration of Life” event from 1-4 p.m., Saturday in the college’s Oncology Center, on Wilson Road.

The celebration will honor pets that faced life threatening situations, as well as their owners and veterinarians, according to a statement from MSU.

Pet owners in attendance will give testimonies and veterinarians from across Michigan also will attend the event.

Other animals that will be recognized have survived injuries from gunshots, diseases such as cancer and other medical problems.

An annual financial award for an MSU veterinary student will be presented during the event by PurinaCare Insurance Services.

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital at MSU averages more than 22,000 cases a year.

MSU is considered one of the top veterinary schools in the country.
