The city of East Lansing and MSU announced that “Zeitoun,” by Dave Eggers, will be the 2010 One Book, One Community selection.

The book follows the true story of Abdulrahman Zeitoun, a Syrian man struggling with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The annual program, which is sponsored by MSU and the city of East Lansing, assigns the same book for all incoming MSU freshmen.

Through the program, MSU and the city of East Lansing encourages the community to read and discuss the book in various settings.

Eggers will visit the East Lansing High School auditorium Aug. 29 and will welcome incoming MSU freshmen Aug. 30 at Breslin Center.

East Lansing and MSU are expected to host events revolving “Zeitoun.”
