ASMSU unanimously passed the 2010-11 operating budget at its Student Assembly meeting Thursday night.
ASMSU is MSU’s undergraduate student government.
Total tax revenue increased by nearly $300,000 from the 2009-10 ASMSU budget because of increased enrollment and money for the Readership Program, Student Assembly Chairperson Kyle Dysarz said.
Total appropriations increased by nearly $90,000.
Dysarz said most of the changes to the budget were meant to streamline budget costs.
“There were a couple of broad things we did in terms of consolidation,” Dysarz said. “We moved things to the communications budget to centralize all activities through communications.”
For example, promotions for legal services, funding board and the Red Cedar Log are all part of the communications budget, but each have a separate budget line.
Eric Branoff, ASMSU Student Assembly vice chairperson of external affairs, said another consolidation measure was to order office supplies as whole instead of by department.
