E.L. official to host budget forum

April 19, 2010

East Lansing City Manager Ted Staton will lead a community budget forum at 7 p.m. April 28 at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road.

Residents will have a chance to learn more about the city’s fiscal challenges and the 2011 fiscal year budgets as well as share feedback and ask questions. Residents also can give feedback on the budget at public work sessions and hearings before City Council’s possible adoption of the budget May 18.

The City Council will consider a $500,000 property tax increase and use of reserves when adopting the 2011 budget.

The forum is free and open to the public. Those interested in learning more about the city’s fiscal plans can attend the April 28 forum or other upcoming public hearings and budget work sessions.
