MSU, E.L. urge students to celebrate safely

MSU and East Lansing officials are urging students and their guests to celebrate responsibly during Final Four weekend, and have set up several events and safety tip Web sites to help.

The Web sites contain suggestions for safe celebrations, such as not blocking sidewalks or streets and immediately leaving any gathering that has been declared an unlawful assembly by police officers.

Additionally, several on- and off-campus showings of MSU’s Saturday evening matchup against Butler are being held.

“Obviously, this is a big weekend to be a Spartan,” MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon said. “(We want) to remind people of ways in which they can help us, as Team MSU is sure that the activities in East Lansing reflect the respect and passion that will happen in Indianapolis for the game.”
