Attempted computer theft reported
Staff in the College of Education said a man attempted to steal a computer as a fire alarm sounded Saturday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
The alarm went off at 5:15 p.m. Saturday McGlothian-Taylor said. The suspect allegedly came into the building during the alarm and attempted to steal a computer from the College of Education office.
The suspect is described as a 43-year-old black male from Lansing who is 5-feet-10-inches tall and 210 pounds. He was wearing a grey shirt and dark jean shorts.
McGlothian-Taylor said there have been other thefts occurring during fire alarms in the past few weeks. She said this incident might be related to the others, but the incidents are under investigation.

At 1st, I thought it was just some strange coincedence that the very next police brief would be the exact same, obscure topic as the correlation between fire alarms and theft, but now my theory is that statenews.com reviews the comments and made this police brief based on our previous conversation, that is, they assume we will continue to visit the site since they are reflecting our supposed interests.

Very smart Carson O. Gin. What you shared in your second comment really makes me wonder too. Are the Police Brief comments really making a difference on what the SN is reporting, in future Police Briefs? If the SN can take our comments and help others then great. See how intelligent you are to have the foresight that you had in your 1st comment. YES we can laugh here..but if we can improve lives than it would be just great!
Now for my observation… What is the world was this man thinking??? Did he really think that he wouldn’t stand out like a SORE THUMB? I guess he tried to hide his appearance with a grey sweatshirt this time, instead of the black sweatshirt that he normally wears. Good, now hopefully they can recover all the stuff that he has taken for the past year. I guess the joke is on the theif for a change!!!! :D

haha, well played. I was wondering if they would actually describe the person beyond an age and weight. Wow! I guess the suspect was creative in their attempt but what a petty thing to do.

evidentally, he is a career criminal if he was identified either through video or photos shown to the staff. They know who he is if they know he’s from Lansing, so either he is already in police custody or a warrant has been issued.
Good Point lvll2. l3

crime is not about black or white, but instead a person’s desperation as compared to their views on the arbitrariness of law and willingness to submit yourself to someone else’s rules. Criminals go against the system because they think its easier than a 9 to 5 job, but at some point they realize crime takes alot more work than they had anticipated. However, once they have gone beyond the point of no return where companies won’t hire them based on their history, they find themselves perpetuating their original misguided theories. I have a theory that there would be less crime if companies were more flexible about when and how long people came to work. Criminals love crime because they can make their own hours.

Now come on, did he really think he was doing to get away with stealing the computer, pleaseee. 43, black and a grey sweatshirt, now if that isn’t noticable enough! BUT the high heel shoes and tall bright top hat was really an eye catcher and if that wasn’t good enough..the long dangley earrings that sparkled and shined, oh and the flashing lights on his belt..did this guy really think that he would blend in? Come on fellow think next time!! LOL
