Prof named MSU institute director

MSU professor Wendy Powers was named director of the Institute for Enhancing Michigan’s First Green Industry: Agriculture and Agribusiness.

Powers is a professor in the departments of animal science and biosystems engineering and is the director of the Environmental Stewardship for Animal Agriculture.

She was named by Michigan State University Extension, or MSUE, for the new position and is set to begin her new responsibilities July 1.

Powers will be responsible for dealing with education efforts across agriculture and agribusiness issues and will lead a team of educators to deal with agriculture issues in Michigan. She also will continue as director of the Environmental Stewardship for Animal Agriculture.

The Institute for Enhancing Michigan’s First Green Industry: Agriculture and Agribusiness is one of four institutes to come out of reorganization with MSUE.
