City manager given award for service

September 23, 2010

East Lansing City Manager Ted Staton received the Michigan Local Government Management Association’s John M. Patriarche Distinguished Service Award on Wednesday.

The annual award, presented at the Michigan Municipal League’s 2010 Annual Convention is given to local government leaders who work to improve efficiency and leadership standards in their communities.

Staton has been East Lansing’s city manager for more than 15 years.

Staton is the first active city manager to receive the award.

“It’s a special honor,” Staton said. “I’ve been diversifying the economy and making East Lansing more friendly for entrepreneurs. It’s a body of work over a number of years.”
