Almost six months after he was found dead in his Lansing home, finance freshman Darren Brown’s case remains under investigation.
Police and investigators have released little information about the circumstances surrounding Brown’s death, stating they cannot speak about the case because the investigation is ongoing.
Brown and 23-year-old Owen Goodenow of St. Johns, Mich., were found dead on March 25 at their home in the 3200 block of Glasgow Drive in Lansing. At the time of the deaths, police ruled the case a homicide and said the murders were drug-related.
The Lansing Police Department, or LPD, has since turned the case over to the Michigan State Police said Lt. Noel Garcia of the LPD. Garcia declined to comment further.
The manner of death has not been released. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named.
Michigan State Police spokeswoman Shanon Banner said the case still is classified as a double homicide. Because investigation is on-going, Banner said she could not release any further details.
Jesse Woods, Brown’s grandfather, said he has been left in the dark and has gotten no information from police since March.
“There’s nothing I can tell you,” Woods said. “There is no autopsy. … We have no information whatsoever; absolutely nothing.”
Ingham County Medical Examiner Dean Sienko also said he could not release the results of the autopsy on Brown at Sparrow Hospital because the case still is under investigation.
Brown was described by friends as being full of life and happiness and having a positive outlook on life.
“He was a good friend of mine,” Anuzis said. “He was the happiest person you’d ever see,” said close friend and economics senior Matas Anuzis, who said he didn’t know what to make of the case’s progression. “He always had a smile on his face. He was loving life.”

Why don’t you ask Virg Bernero’s daughter what happened. She was friends with Darren Brown.

CORRECTION: Finance is NOT a freshman major.
Only JUNIORS/Seniors can major in finance.
He was “pre-business.”
BTW: Bernero’s daughter goes to CMU — call her there.
Why was her name left out? Because her father is running for governor? Kind of INCOMPETENT not to call her, isn’t it?
