The legislation was created to reimpose penalties for the drugs after they accidentally were stricken in December. Former Gov. Jennifer Granholm notified legislators of the mishap, which was contained in a bill allowing parole hearings for inmates serving time for drug-related offenses.
The bill also would criminalize possession, sale and use of a product marketed as bath salts becoming popular as a recreational drug.
The bill has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee. The measure will go to Gov. Rick Snyder if the full House approves the bill without changes.
