Musicians to perform at Lansing blues festival

September 15, 2011

The Old Town BluesFest will take place Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

This free event brings a variety of blues artists to the streets of Lansing’s Old Town — at the intersection of Turner Street and East Grand River Avenue — for a weekendlong celebration.

More than 20 artists are scheduled to perform, including several local performers, such as Benjamin Hall and The Hoopties.

Performers from past years, including Liz Mandeville Trio and Freddie Cunningham & the Root Doctor Band, also will be in attendance.

In addition to music, there will be a variety of other attractions throughout the weekend, such as music clinics, riverboat taxi rides and an instrument petting zoo, in which attendees can learn more about various instruments.

The event is estimated to attract about 15,000 people throughout the weekend.
