MSU Broad Art museum to host gala

October 30, 2011

As part of its Countdown to the Broad event series, the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum will host a gala cocktail reception Friday night to benefit the museum.

The event will be held at the Spartan Club on the fourth floor of Spartan Stadium from 6-8 p.m.
Artist Andrew Kuo — whose work will be on display when the museum opens next April — will be in attendance, and museum director Michael Rush also is expected to attend the event. The reception is slated to feature a live auction and food, drinks and music.

The $45 million museum was designed by London architect Zaha Hadid, who was selected from among an international group of designers to plan the museum’s layout.

The facility is being financed by private donations to the university. About $22 million was contributed to the building’s construction costs by billionaire alumnus Eli Broad and his wife, Edythe.
