Alleged dog killer Andrew Thompson was release from the Ingham County Jail about an hour ago, a jail deputy said.
Thompson’s bond was lowered to $25,000 each in East Lansing and Meridian Township where he faces a total of 13 counts of animal killing/torture. He was release on $5,000 cash surety bond —10 percent of his total bond value.
As a stipulation of his bond, Thompson will live with friends in an apartment in Okemos and he will wear a GPS tether to track his location. He also will have to adhere to a curfew between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Thompson, who currently is suspended from MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, had been detained for more than three months.
Although Thompson is from Arizona and his family currently resides there, he is not allowed to leave the state.
Director of the Ingham County Animal Control Jamie McAloon Lampman expressed concern about Thompson’s release following the reduction of his bond from a total of $1 million to the current $50,000 on Sept. 28.
In a previous interview Lampman said she was concerned that Thompson would not only be a danger to animals but also a danger to witnesses who testified against him.
Even with the GPS tether, Lampman considers Thompson a flight risk.
“This guy has more than one red flag,” she said in the previous interview.
