New vice presidents hired for office of governmental affairs

October 16, 2011

MSU’s Office of the Vice President for Governmental Affairs has appointed two new assistant vice presidents for governmental affairs, according to a press release.

David Bertram and Monique Field assumed their new positions Oct. 10. Both will oversee relations between the university and the state of Michigan’s politicians.

“The appointments of David Bertram and Monique Field bring a wealth of government and legislative experience to our office,” MSU vice president for Governmental Affairs Mark Burnham said in the release.

Field has previously served as the director of governmental affairs for the Michigan Department of Management and Budget and has worked as an attorney for Wiener Associates, a law firm.

Field earned her undergraduate degree from MSU and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

For the past 11 years, Bertram has worked with the Michigan Townships Association as its legislative team leader and formerly worked on the staff of then-Gov. John Engler for seven years. Bertram will handle duties ranging from legislation analysis to state relations activities, while Field will oversee state relations outreach and MSU’s relationships with elected politicians.
