The MSU women’s soccer team closed out its season Saturday with a 2-0 victory against Northwestern in Evanston, Ill.
With the win, the Spartans (14-5-0, 7-4-0 Big Ten) clinched the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament Nov. 2-6, also in Evanston, Ill.
In the game against Northwestern, the Spartans got their goals from senior midfielder Mikki Dennis in the 50th minute and another from senior forward Hannah Peterson in the 61st minute.
Senior goalkeeper Jill Flietstra earned her second consecutive shutout Saturday, and her ninth of the season.
MSU will return home shortly before opening up Big Ten Tournament play against the No. 6 seed Iowa at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Evanston, Ill.
