Representation changes in local murder trial

November 28, 2011

Attorney Bill Hatcher no longer will represent David Marion — one of two men suspected of killing MSU student Darren Brown in 2010 — following a motion to withdraw brought forth by Hatcher on Monday afternoon in Lansing’s 30th Circuit Court.

Hatcher made the motion after Marion’s family requested his removal for financial reasons. Marion’s trial still is on schedule for March 5, 2012.

Benjamin French, Marion’s alleged partner in the murder of Brown and his roommate, 23-year-old St.
Johns, Mich., resident Owen Goodenow, is set to stand trial Dec. 5.
