In a quad-dual that pitted the MSU gymnastics team against two top-10 teams, the Spartans placed third behind No. 5 Alabama and No. 9 Penn State and posted a season-high team score of 192.875.
Alabama took first place in the meet, edging Penn State by .075 of a point, and Cornell placed last with a score of 188.850.
Sophomore Dani Levy had the highest finish in any event for the Spartans, placing sixth in the floor exercise rotation with a score of 9.800. Levy finished with a composite score of 38.275, which put her at seventh in the individual all-around standings.
Sophomore Taira Neal had a strong showing on the vault, receiving a score of 9.825, which tied her for seventh place in the event.
For the third straight match, the Spartans struggled on the beam, which was their lowest scoring event of the meet at 47.650. However, the mark is an improvement over the past two meets — in which the Spartans posted scores of 46.875 and 45.900.
MSU will return to Jenison Field House 7 p.m. Saturday for a meet against Illinois State.
