Students finalist for service award

Five MSU students were announced as finalists for the Big Ten Network’s LiveBIG Scholarship on Monday based on extensive volunteering in their community.

One student from each Big Ten university will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Winners will be chosen by online voting.

The top five finalists from MSU include criminal justice junior Hannah Berning, English sophomore Kaitlyn Hlywa, special education sophomore Julia Ruggirello, criminal justice sophomore Sarah Valente and Lyman Briggs freshman Stephen Vorenberg.

Voting closes Jan. 27, and the winner of the $1,000 scholarship will be announced Feb. 26.

The network established BTN LiveBIG to promote volunteering and community service.
