RHA to vote on new president

February 8, 2012

With presidential elections two weeks away, the Residence Halls Association, or RHA, spent part of its Wednesday night meeting opening up the nomination period.

Current RHA Vice President Kelcey Gapske accepted a nomination for president. Three other RHA members were nominated but declined to run.

The nominations will continue at next week’s meeting — where RHA members can recommend current representatives or executive board members for a leadership position — but will close again after the meeting. Presidential elections will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 in Shaw Hall.

Also announced during the meeting was a potential guest speaker event coming in March concerning bias and discrimination.

Director of Racial, Ethnic and Progressive Affairs Kevin Fleury said Mike Dilbeck, founder of the RESPONSE ABILITY Project, plans to visit MSU to speak on issues of discrimination. RHA currently is finalizing Dilbeck’s visit.
