Presidential candidate Ron Paul spoke at the Auditorium on Farm Lane Monday afternoon where he was received by an enthusiastic audience that embraced his message of non-intervention abroad and fiscal responsibility at home.

The Texas congressman spoke to a near-capacity crowd of about 4,000 students and other attendees, where he advocated a platform of ending foreign wars, decreasing government debt by slashing a trillion dollars during his first year and ending the war on drugs.

“The country is poorer because everything is based on debt,” Paul said to the crowd as audience members waved campaign signs and gave several standing ovations. “Economic planning doesn’t work unless it’s done by the people, not by the government.”
