MSU professor Paul Hunter died Wednesday after heart attack, car crash

Early this afternoon, family of Paul Hunter confirmed the MSU chemistry professor died after having a heart attack resulting in a car crash on Wednesday morning.

His daughter, Kathryn Hunter, confirmed the incident happened at around 9 a.m.

Kathryn said the accident occurred between Meridian Mall, 1982 W. Grand River Ave., in Okemos, and the Meridian Township Police Department, 5151 Marsh Road, in Okemos, and the family believes he was heading toward a post office.

Meridian Township police could not be reached for comment.

Kathryn said her father loved going to work everyday to see his students and coworkers.

“He loved life,” Kathryn said, choking back tears. “He really did.”

Officials at Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital confirmed Hunter’s death.

After learning the news Wednesday evening, mathematics sophomore Ryan Kish said he’s still in shock. Hunter taught Kish in an introductory chemistry class.

“I couldn’t believe it when I found out and honestly still can’t,” he said.
