State Rep. Bob Genetski's license suspended

March 19, 2012

After refusing a Breathalyzer test in January, State Rep. Bob Genetski, R-Saugatuck, had his driver’s license suspended during a hearing in front of an administrative court examiner on Monday.

Genetski was pulled over by MSU police officer Casey Christman on Jan. 19 for speeding and driving with an expired plate. Christman testified there was a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Genetski’s vehicle that led him to request the Breathalyzer test and other field tests.

The examiner, Jay Todd, suspended Genetski’s license for one year starting April 9 and ending April 8, 2013.

Genetski’s lawyer, Mike Nichols, has yet to decide whether his client will appeal the suspension.

“We’ve got to consider everything you have in front of you and go from there,” Nichols said.
