Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum will open Nov. 9 with an outdoor public ceremony, MSU announced today.
Following the ceremony, the museum will be open on Nov. 10 for people to enter the building and see inside.
The museum was originally set to open April 21, 2012, but because of issues obtaining glass panels for the outside of the museum, the opening was delayed.
In a previous State News article, Museum Director Michael Rush said the total project’s cost is between about $40 million to $45 million.
In a press release, MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon said the museum is a powerful architectural statement, symbolizing the 21st-century dynamic global position of MSU.
“The museum will provide opportunities for students and faculty across disciplines to explore contemporary issues through art and for the university to engage with local, regional, national and international communities,” Simon said.
